POLAR BEAR DIP

In previous years the Oliver Rotary has held a polar bear dip on New Years day, and we set up a tank for it to happen in on the beach at Tuc El Nuit Lake.

CASH RAFFLE
FIREBALL
Each year the OFD puts on a cash raffle, we call it the “Fireball”. This event started out as a car raffle, however, the price of cars has gone up so much it is impossible to get a car worthy of the $10,000.00 price range. Now it is simply a cash raffle, and the money can be spent as seen fit by the winners. There are many other prizes awarded throughout the evening as well.

Approximately $8000.00 is raised through this event, which is spent on equipment and training, that the taxpayers, therefore, do not have to fund through our budget.

It has helped to pay for the original Jaws of Life , new radios, ropes for rescue, equipment for water rescue, and the low level strainer, a device that allows us to get 90% of the water from a portable tank. It has also paid for a number of training sessions and other equipment too numerous to mention.

The raffle is always held on the first Saturday of November.

Wives Appreciation
Behind every good man is a great woman...
For the endless support and assistance our special ladies give us throughout the year to help us do what we do, we show our appreciation with a special day just for them.

In 2010 we had them step into our shoes for a day...

We got all of the ladies dressed up in our gear and put them thru a RIT course. This is a picture of some of the survivors. Yes this was a hard day of work for them, but they did it all with a huge smile.

In 2011 we took them out for a GPS treasure hunt, zipping around the town, and ending up back at the hall for a BBQ.
